loving rooftop gardens

Over the past two weekends we have finally gotten around to doing some updates to our teeny tiny back deck.  So while browsing around for more ideas on small and urban spaces my love of rooftop decks had me wishing even more that we had one!  There is just something that is so much cooler about rooftop decks and gardens.  Its like the adult version of a tree house!  Every time I'm in Europe its one of the things I pay attention to the most.  I think the best part is having your little oasis up in the sky where you can also people watch below...sign me up!  Here are some favorites...now to just move!

I also noticed the last time in NYC how so many flower shops sold the potted boxwood "walls" already grown and trimmed out the perfect privacy screen when you live close to others.  What I would do to put one on the airplane with me!  I have yet to find any in Nashville although there has to be somewhere that sells them!  You could also make them yourselves..but lets get serious that could take years of growing and trimming to get them just right!

I do have potted boxwoods on our deck and if you are a black thumb like me they are the way to go...I planted them last year and have literally done nothing since then.  I thought for sure they would die throughout the extreme winter we had but they are still going strong.

Another alternative to a boxwood wall...bamboo!

I mean this view....I would never go inside.

  2. I think most people would do the same when they are headed with the situation.
