one room challenge: week 3.5

So because last week was crazy town you get two one room challenge updates this week...I'm calling this one 3.5.  I was stalled due to a last minute change in schedule last week that allowed me to attend The Southern C Summit.  I know many of you who read are either bloggers or small business owners so I wanted to give this a double thumbs up.  It was great!  I came back with so much info for not only my business but also this blog...so hopefully you will be able to see some improvement and changes to come!  If you want more info feel free to email me....I honestly say this is a must!  The price in comparison to other conferences is great for the product you receive....which is nice b/c lets get serious when starting a small business or blog you need to watch cash-flow.

Ok..enough about that...onto the bedroom! (click here for week 1 and week 2)  I feel like this post should be titled the many miles traveled. So when I last left you I was debating between beds.  You know the saying the cobblers kids has no shoes.  Well I can make decisions all day for other peoples homes and it comes out great...yet when it comes to making decisions for my own home I become handicap.  So I knew one thing...I needed a bed...and ASAP.  Nashville craigslist was proving far from successful and that's with me checking multiple times a day.  So Tuesday I took a trip to Kentucky to various vintage and antique stores only to come back with no bed...ugh!  I also kept going back and forth on the Overstock bed. (see bad decision making!)  I then found where a blogger actually painted that exact bed gold...and it wasn't exactly what I envisioned in my head....so that made my decision.  The infamous Ikea Edland bed it was.  Plus if one day I do come across my dream brass bed this one will work perfectly in our guest room/ future rooms! So then comes the next day of travel...to Memphis (3.5 hours each way) to pick up an Ikea bed.  I definitely questioned my sanity most of the way there and back...but felt better when the seller informed me his girlfriend drove over 6 hours to buy it originally from Ikea in Atlanta...there are other furniture crazy people out there!!!

Pictures of the actual room will be up on Thursday so make sure to check back but this is what I'm working with....

I also already had this Dwell Studio duvet set and brought it in.... I love how its neutral and a chic pattern

While this isn't the most exciting post I wanted to bring up to do date.  I now need to make a trip to Atl for a few Ikea pieces (more miles!), pick out a rug and curtains, as well as some finishing touches/art...all within 15 days! ahh!  I like to think of it as those times in high school I waited until the last minute to do a project but they ended up fab!  Cheers (and hopes) to that!

Don't forget you can still enter my birthday giveaways that are ending each day this week!

  1. I've done crazy stuff for furniture too! Love the lines of the IKEA bed . . . so simple and clean . . . perfect for what you're going for. I see you hit the Worlds Away/Worlds Apart outlet while you were there too! :) I was there the week before looking for a table for my sister and came away lusting after a huge chandelier for me!

Can't wait to see it all come together!

  3. Where is that Ikea bed available? I don't see it online at all. I do love your originally bed, but I am always changing things around as well.

  4. We must be cut from the same cloth. I tend to troll CL in nearby cities to find what I need. I drove to Chattanooga to pick up my Chinese Chippendale dining chairs. Sometimes it's just worth the trip. It's good to see a fellow Nashville blogger that's willing to travel to get a deal!
