one room challenge: week 1

This is something I have gone back and forth on doing but have decided to just go for it!  Have you heard of the One Room Challenge?!  Its where bloggers, designers, ect makeover one room in 6 weeks and document the process with updates once a week.  So I've been wanting to change up our master bedroom, yet we have also already renovated every inch of this house so starting to "redo" things this soon is what some may call crazy...so I've decided to do a mini makeover.  As in last time we did new flooring, lighting, painting ect.  Some furniture pieces may stay and some may go.  I plan to shop our house and garage (which Richard considers to be a fully stocked furniture store) for pieces to keep this cost effective.

You can see the entire before and after of the master here...but here are a few images to get the point...

These are before we bought....gross carpet, window unit, circa 1970s ceiling fan, metal doors....the list goes on but I won't bore you!

Some "afters" that are now "befores"....

I don't have an exact plan yet...just some inspiration photos.  I do know I want a bed that does not require a bedskirt...and preferably is a canopy bed like the ones below.  I have been on the lookout on craigslist for months with no luck...so maybe this will send good luck my way...say prayers!!!

I want more of a retreat...a good mix of vintage and modern with a cozy feel.

Check back next Thursday for progress!  Also check out the One Room Challenge to follow many more makeovers or jump on the bandwagon yourself!
