gold leaf art

If you follow me on instagram you probably saw this image a few weeks ago of some DIY art I was working on with gold leaf.  I decided to switch up what was over our sofa and ended up with

I decided to switch up what was over our sofa and created two different yet similar sets of arrows that I then framed in inexpensive Ikea ribba frames.  (still debating if I should make them gold too!)

The process was super easy and could be done with any design or for any size...don't you just love gold leaf! (except for the mess :/)

It was tough to photograph these up close because the glass is super reflective so here is one matted before I framed it...using gold leaf creates more of a real gold shine!

The key to creating clean lines is to use the adhesive pen instead of the adhesive that comes in a pot...then just follow the directions on the back of the gold leaf package...super easy!

Update:  Due to receiving many emails asking...I do complete commissions on gold leaf art based on my current work load.  Just email me with what you're interested in having created mallory<at>malloryshawdesign.com

  7. Love this! Would like to try and do this for my office. May I ask, did you just free hand the arrows? Also is the black just black card stock? Thanks so much.
